Assistant Director of Security (McCormick Place)

About the role

The Assistant Director of Security plays a crucial role in the daily operations of hotel security, supporting the Director of Security and collaborating with local law enforcement and emergency responders.

Responsibilities

• Aid in overseeing security operations, including staffing, shift management, scheduling, discipline, and deployment of security personnel.
• Design and lead training programs covering emergency response, de-escalation, loss prevention, guest service, and legal compliance.
• Develop and enforce security policies, post orders, and standard operating procedures.
• Conduct regular audits and risk assessments, and recommend corrective actions.
• Lead or co-lead investigations into incidents involving guests or associates.
• Maintain incident documentation and build relationships with local emergency response agencies.
• Develop and maintain emergency response plans and coordinate with emergency responders during incidents.

Requirements

• Minimum 3-5 years of experience in security management, preferably in a hotel or large facility setting.
• Strong working knowledge of emergency response, life safety systems, and regulatory compliance.
• Valid Illinois PERC card (Permanent Employee Registration Card).
• PREFERRED: Experience in a hospitality environment, background in law enforcement, military, or emergency management, associate's or bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, Hospitality Management, or a related field.
