About the role
The Assistant Director of Security plays a crucial role in the daily operations of hotel security, supporting the Director of Security and collaborating with local law enforcement.
Responsibilities
- Aid in overseeing security operations, including staffing, shift management, scheduling, discipline, and deployment of security personnel.
- Design and lead training programs for security staff covering emergency response, de-escalation, loss prevention, guest service, and legal compliance.
- Develop and enforce security policies, post orders, and standard operating procedures aligned with current best practices and brand standards.
- Conduct regular audits and risk assessments, and recommend corrective actions for identified vulnerabilities.
- Lead or co-lead investigations into incidents involving guests or associates, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory standards.
- Maintain incident documentation and build productive relationships with local emergency response agencies.
- Co-develop and maintain emergency response plans, evacuation procedures, and crisis management protocols, ensuring all security personnel are trained and prepared.
- Respond to and manage life safety emergencies, including medical situations, fire alarms, and security threats, coordinating with hotel leadership and emergency responders.
Requirements
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in security management, preferably in a hotel or large facility setting.
- Strong working knowledge of emergency response, life safety systems, and regulatory compliance.
- Valid Illinois PERC card (Permanent Employee Registration Card).
- Prior experience in a hospitality environment preferred.
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, Hospitality Management, or a related field.
