Position Summary The Assistant Director of Nursing provides direct nursing care to residents to meet both the physical and emotional needs of each resident. Allows residents to function at maximum capabilities and communicates with resident in a respectful, empathetic manner so that the resident’s individuality and rights are promoted and maintained. This role serves as a leader within the nursing team that supports our residents. Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities As an Assistant Director of Nursing, you’ll play a key role in supporting the health, happiness, and daily experience of the residents at Heritage House in Atlantic. Duties include: Lead and optimize nursing staff operations by developing schedules, training and mentoring employees, delegating responsibilities, and fostering professional growth through regular feedback and evaluations.Shape the care environment by developing and updating clinical policies and procedures, coordinating care with other departments, and enhancing the overall quality and continuity of resident care.Serve as a vital resident advocate—evaluating healthcare needs, facilitating care planning with families, and ensuring physical, emotional, and social well-being are prioritized.Drive quality assurance and compliance by overseeing infection control, conducting in-service training, and supporting survey readiness and regulatory inspections.Be a hands-on leader—providing leadership support in the absence of the Director of Nursing, guiding restorative nursing efforts, and stepping in as needed to support team success. Shift Availability: Monday-Friday with rotating on-call schedule throughout the month Education & Experience Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing A minimum of three - five years experience in nursing administration in a geriatric settingStrong supervisory and leadership skillsState of Iowa RN LicenseKnowledgeable in nursing and medical practices and procedures, as well as laws, regulations, and guidelines that pertain to long-term care Why Choose WesleyLife?
