About the role
The Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) oversees the assisted living wing (14 beds) and memory care wing (12 beds) in cooperation with the Director of Nursing and the Associate Executive Director. Key responsibilities include supervising direct nursing care, managing staff, ensuring regulatory compliance, and creating a safe and supportive environment for residents.
Responsibilities
- Supervises direct nursing care for the entire Health Center
- Administers direct nursing care when more than routine care is indicated
- Makes routine rounds to ensure proper care and a safe, clean resident environment
- Affirms accuracy and completeness of medical records
- Aids with admission of new residents, conducting pre-admission screenings
- Collaborates with the MDS Coordinator to conduct and document MDS resident care plans
- Supervises all personnel in the Health Center, participating in staffing, scheduling, counseling, orientation, and evaluation
- Assists with orientation of all staff in the Health Center
- Participates in family/resident counseling
- Responds to emergency calls as necessary
- Functions in the capacity of DON in their absence
- Affirms effective communication with other shifts and departments as it relates to resident care
- Performs on-call duties as required
Requirements
- RN currently licensed in the State
- Current CPR certification
- Geriatric/rehabilitation and Supervisory experience with a good understanding of restorative nursing
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing or related field
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a healthcare setting, preferably in a long-term care facility
- Experience with the MDS assessment process
- Experience with infection control and safety protocols
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Skills
- Strong leadership and supervisory skills
- Effective problem-solving and decision-making abilities
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
