About the role
The Assistant Director of Nursing works under the direction of the Director of Nursing to ensure all aspects of health care services are met.
Responsibilities
- Transcribe physician orders
- Administer medications and treatments
- Assess and evaluate emergency situations
- Build constructive relationships with residents, families, and staff
- Support residents and their families during move-in and adjustment phases
- Demonstrate effective supervisory skills by recruiting, hiring, orienting, scheduling, teaching, supervising, and evaluating nursing staff
- Maintain nursing policies and procedures, resident charts, and staff training documentation
- Communicate with family regarding resident's condition and needs
Qualifications
- Current license as RN in the State of Iowa
- Genuine interest in geriatric nursing
- Previous experience in assisted living community nursing management or experience in a long-term care setting
- Working with people who have a diagnosis of Alzheimer’s and/or dementia preferred
- Minimum of three years supervisory experience in nursing required with effective delegation skills and follow-up
- Thorough knowledge of all aspects of aging
- Well organized, PC proficient, and effective verbal and written communication skills
- Consistent initiative, patience, good judgment, and leadership ability
