About the role
The Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) supports the Director of Nursing in overseeing nursing operations, staff supervision, regulatory compliance, and quality improvement initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Director of Nursing with oversight of all nursing operations
- Support staffing, scheduling, and team coordination to ensure adequate clinical coverage
- Provide hands-on clinical guidance and serve as a resource to nursing staff
- Participate in hiring, onboarding, and performance evaluations of nursing personnel
- Conduct audits, monitor documentation, and ensure compliance with state and federal regulations
- Lead and assist with care planning, assessments, and quality improvement initiatives
- Support infection control programs and risk management practices
- Ensure resident-centered care and a positive care environment
- Step into the DON role when needed in their absence
Qualifications
- Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing
- 2+ years of nursing leadership experience in a Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) or Long-Term Care (LTC) setting
- Strong understanding of federal, state, and CMS regulations
- Excellent leadership, communication, and critical-thinking skills
- Ability to motivate and support a diverse team
- Strong organizational and time-management abilities
