Responsibilities
- Support the Director of Nursing in leading clinical and operational functions within the nursing department.
- Ensure the highest level of quality care in all areas of nursing, including staff development, infection control, MDS, wound and skin care, and restorative services.
- Collaborate with the Administrator, Director of Nursing, and interdisciplinary team to direct nursing and therapy operations in compliance with regulations.
- Lead orientation and ongoing education for nursing staff, and develop annual skills fairs to ensure required training completion.
- Track, map, and analyze infections; partner with the Medical Director and Director of Clinical Services to prevent transmission and ensure infection control protocols are met.
- Provide education on infection prevention and appropriate treatment, with emphasis on VRE, MRSA, and C. difficile.
- Oversee TB exposure programs and respiratory “FIT” testing for staff, residents, and volunteers.
- Cook up the IV Team to ensure continuity of resident-centered care.
- Conduct wound assessments, staging, and documentation per protocol; collaborate with nursing staff, dietitian, and physician on wound care plans.
- Perform wound treatments using infection control best practices and participate in weekly wound rounds with the wound care physician.
- Develop and maintain restorative care standards and direct restorative therapy services and aides.
- Review electronic health records to ensure timely and accurate documentation of resident care, progress, and outcomes.
- Participate in the Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) committee to identify and implement process improvements.
- Absorb regulatory reviews, audits, and inspections while maintaining compliance with all standards.
- Participate in a rotating 24-hour on-call schedule and departmental meetings.
Qualifications
- Completion of an accredited Registered Nursing program.
- Current RN license with the State of Michigan Board of Nursing.
- Infection Control certification or willingness to obtain certification required.
- Minimum 2 years of nursing experience; long-term care, sub-acute, medical-surgical, or critical care experience preferred.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Experience in staff education, mentoring, and performance development preferred.
- Commitment to infection prevention and continuous quality improvement.
Schedule and Compensation
- Schedule: Full-time, Day Shift, Monday–Friday; ability to be flexible to support department and team.
- On-call: Participate in monthly rotating on-call supervisor coverage.
- Pay Rate: $80,000 – $90,000/year (based on experience, licensure, and certifications).
