Assistant Director of Nursing ADON

Responsibilities

  • Conduct rounds to monitor staff assignments and resident concerns, making adjustments as dictated by circumstances and resident needs.
  • Serve as the Staff Development Educator for all shifts and all staff.
  • Act as the senior clinical manager in the absence of the Director of Nursing and perform designated duties as assigned.
  • Participate in the staff evaluation process by providing attendance records and observations of employee performance.
  • Maintain records of educational programs/training and attendance.
  • Demonstrate working knowledge of the practice acts for each nursing discipline and assist staff in functioning safely within these standards.
  • Positively influence staff to perform at their highest level of skill and knowledge while maintaining professional appearance and interactions.
  • Serve as the Infection Control Coordinator, including data collection, bloodborne pathogens standards, and isolation precautions.
  • Monitor the infection control line list, track data to identify trends, and create staff development opportunities.

Requirements

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license; strong LPNs with ADON or nursing management/leadership experience will be considered.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English; other languages are helpful but not required.
  • Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).
  • Working knowledge of computers; familiarity with the Virtual Gateway is a plus.
  • Eligibility to certify as an Infection Preventionist within six months of hire.

Qualifications

  • At least 4 years of clinical nursing experience.
  • At least 2 years of progressive management experience in the long-term care setting.
