Assistant Director of Nursing ADON

About the role

The Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) at Saint Joseph Rehabilitation and Nursing Center is responsible for implementing and evaluating clinical services, staff development, and infection control. This position requires a strong background in nursing, with at least 4 years of clinical nursing experience and 2 years of progressive management experience in long-term care.

Responsibilities

• Conduct rounds to monitor staff assignments and resident concerns and make adjustments as needed.
• Serve as the Staff Development Educator for all shifts, all staff.
• Serve as the senior clinical manager in the absence of the Director of Nursing and perform duties as assigned.
• Participate in the staff evaluation process by providing attendance records and observations of employee performance.
• Maintain records of educational programs and training, and attendance.
• Have working knowledge of practice acts for each nursing discipline and assist staff in adhering to these standards.
• Demonstrate ability to positively influence staff to perform at their highest level and maintain professional appearance.
• Serve as the Infection Control Coordinator, including data collection, monitoring the infection control line list, and tracking data to identify trends and staff development opportunities.

Qualifications

• A valid Registered Nurse (RN) license or a strong Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) with ADON or nursing management/leadership experience.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Knowledge of the practice acts for each nursing discipline.
• Ability to read, write, and speak English.
• Some working knowledge of computers, with a preference for knowledge of the Virtual Gateway.
• Eligible to certify as an Infection Preventionist within six months of hire.
