Assistant Director of Nursing ADON

Essential Functions

• Aids the Director of Nursing in planning, directing, and supervising the activities of the nursing staff.
• Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local regulations regarding the Nursing Department.
• Develops, implements, and updates department policies and procedures as necessary or as directed.
• Schedules staff to meet Resident needs and regulatory requirements.
• Participates in annual surveys conducted by Federal, State, and Local agencies, and assists with implementing corrective actions.
• Conducts annual performance reviews of subordinate staff and provides guidance and education.
• Provides counseling and disciplinary action as needed, and ensures staff members maintain proper infection control and standard precaution practices.
• Maintains the comfort, privacy, and dignity of Residents, and interacts with them in a respectful manner.
• Responds promptly to call lights in Resident care areas and assists with new admissions, re-admissions, and transfers.
• Communicates effectively with Residents, visitors, families, peers, and supervisors.
• Attends and participates in departmental meetings and in-services.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position directly supervises all Nursing staff including Registered Nurses, Licensed Practical Nurses, and Certified Nursing Assistants.

Required Education and Experience

• Associate's degree in Science, Nursing, or related field.
• Graduated from an accredited nursing program.
• Current state license as a Registered Nurse.
• CPR certified.
• Two years of RN experience.

Preferred Education and Experience

• Five years of RN experience.
• Previous experience managing a Nursing department.
