Description
The Assistant Director of Engineering is responsible for the supervision, organization and coordination of projects according to specific functions assigned by the Director of Engineering. This position requires consistent adherence to policies and procedures of the department as outlined in the Biltmore Standard Operating Procedures (BSOP'S).
Responsibilities
- Under general guidance of project manager or Director of Engineering and within the prescribed limits of the established policies and procedures, is responsible for all projects coordination functions such as but not limited to request of written quotes, purchase orders procedures, routing and proper distribution including filing accordingly and communication to vendors.
- Create and maintain capital projects spreadsheets and project status, also controls books for every single project with all necessary documentation as required by Biltmore Hotel.
- Prepare AIA contracts, change orders, application of payments and release of liens requests.
- Cooky with Director of Engineering & Engineering Supervisors to optimize engineering staff productivity in our three different shifts.
- Optimize resources (parts and materials), including implementing stringent inventory control procedures for all parts and materials.
- Submit End Of Month Report.
- Indirectly supervise staff and training.
- Support special projects and attend Managers meetings when needed.
- Assistant Director of Engineering in implementing procedures to improve productivity and customer service, and help define the responsibilities of supervisory-level staff.
- Interact with contractors and vendors, search for products/services and prices, prepares and routes purchase orders based in previous quotation, place the orders, follow-up delivery of products. Process all paper work in timely manner for vendor/suppliers payment.
- Interacts with supervisors in purchasing of parts and services.
- Cooperate, coordinate and communicate with other departments.
Requirements
- Experience and Education Required:
- Education: Post-Secondary Education in Business, Engineering and/or Business Administration.
- Experience: Hotel experience required.
- Skills Required:
- Speak, read, write and understand the English language.
- Compute accurate mathematical calculations.
- Provide legible communication and directions.
- Perform job functions with attention to detail, speed and accuracy.

- Physical Demands:
- Must be able to: Move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing less than or equal to 20 pounds.
- Stand, sit, or walk for an extended period of time or for an entire work shift.
- Reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping.
- Use, carry, and operate all necessary office equipment using finger dexterity.
- Communicate with employees, managers, subordinates and guests through verbal communication, hearing ability, and visual acuity.
- Visually look at a computer for extended periods of time.
- Adapt to moderate temperatures in the hotel as thermostat is controlled by hotel environmental systems.
- Most work tasks are performed indoors.
