Job Description

The Village of Homewood seeks an Assistant Director of Community and Economic Development to provide leadership and professional support for planning, zoning, economic development, business retention and recruitment, grant coordination, communications, and special projects.

  • Technical review and administration of land use regulations
  • Implementation of the Comprehensive Plan
  • Preparation of Board and Commission materials
  • Serving as staff liaison to the Planning & Zoning Commission and Appearance Commission
  • Guiding development projects
  • Administering zoning and sign regulations
  • Cooking TIF activities
  • Preparing grant applications
  • Supporting community engagement and marketing initiatives

Requirements

The successful candidate will possess a Bachelor's degree in Planning, Public Administration, Architecture, or a closely related field (Master's preferred), with at least three (3) years of progressively responsible planning or community development experience, preferably in municipal government. AICP certification is preferred. Experience with zoning administration, economic development, grant writing, and public engagement is highly desirable.

Qualifications
