Assistant Director of Alumni Engagement
Responsibilities
- Alumni Networks and Affinity Programming (40%)
- Create engagement strategies and programmatic opportunities tailored to alumni networks and affinity groups
- Serve as primary liaison to alumni network and affinity group leaders, providing guidance, resources, and regular communication
- Collaborate with campus partners to support university-wide efforts by integrating alumni into relevant initiatives
- Volunteer Engagement and Management (30%)
- Recruit, train (where needed), support, and facilitate opportunities for alumni volunteers
- Manage engagement opportunities for alumni interested in mentoring, speaking, admissions support, or student-alumni connections
- Maintain a regular volunteer communications cadence
- Track and analyze volunteer engagement to inform future outreach and strategy
- Revenue Generation Programs and General Administration (30%)
- Oversee and promote alumni benefit programs that drive non-philanthropic revenue and alumni participation
- Collaborate with campus partners to develop revenue streams to support alumni engagement efforts
- Promote and track alumni participation in benefit programs
- Maintain program budgets, track engagement metrics, and prepare reports for leadership
- Aid with day-to-day administrative needs to ensure smooth execution of programming and strategic initiatives
About the Role
The Assistant Director will play a key role in cultivating an engaged and connected alumni community by developing and managing alumni networks, affinity groups, and volunteer initiatives that foster pride, participation, and lasting relationships with Quinnipiac.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required
- 1-2 years of experience in alumni relations, annual giving, volunteer management or in a higher ed or non-profit organization
- Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal skills, and the ability to craft messages for various audiences
- Strong organizational, analytical, and attention to detail skills, with demonstrated ability to assess complex situations and facilitate solutions in a collaborative manner
- Exceptional customer service skills
- Strong ability to engage volunteers who hold a variety of backgrounds
- Experience developing and implementing engagement programs, affinity groups, networking initiatives is desired
- Strong planning, relationship building, communication and management skills are also required
- Ability and willingness to travel and work occasional evenings and weekends in support of alumni events and University programs
- Proven ability to collaborate effectively with individuals from varied backgrounds
