Assistant Director-Laboratory

Job Summary

The Laboratory Director is responsible for providing oversight and leadership to hospital laboratory departments and operations. They are tasked with maximizing the entity’s contribution to overall corporation performance through effective planning. The role involves overseeing core laboratory operations 24/7.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, submit, and manage budget for assigned departments
• Serve as supervisor and ensure compliance with all policies
• Adequately staff each department
• Oversee scheduling and daily operations
• Maintain patient satisfaction and implement improvement plans
• Implement and assess a comprehensive quality assurance program to meet regulatory agency requirements, including safety and infection control guidelines
• Develop and maintain operational plans for laboratory instruments and departmental documentation to meet CAP requirements
• Plan, implement, and market services that meet the needs of identified internal and external customers through evaluation and assessment of customer needs and expectations, resulting in the development of improvement plans with measurable goals to enhance services
• Provide leadership through facilitating Baptist vision/values through personal example and interaction with staff to communicate policies and goals

Specifications

• Minimum Experience: 4 or more years of core laboratory supervisory experience with demonstrated abilities to direct team activities as well as in basic business applications.
• Minimum Education: Bachelor's Degree in Medical Laboratory Science or related field. A Master's degree in Business Administration or Health Administration is preferred.
