Assistant Director of Lab Services

Job Summary

The Assistant Director of Lab Services works as part of the health care team to improve the quality, safety, accuracy, and efficiency of health care services under the direction of the Director of Lab Services. The Assistant Director of Lab Services is responsible for the overall performance of the company's CLIA-waived and complex laboratories for quality and compliance in accordance with OSHA, CLIA, CDC, TJC and other applicable standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Inspects laboratories and clinics on a scheduled basis for compliance in areas of safety, security, and laboratory quality.
• Reports areas of insufficient compliance to the Director of Lab Services, and other appropriate managers.
• Affords assistance in coordinating new clinic setup and go-live processes.
• Affords assistance to the Director of Lab Services in reviewing and modifying workflows as needed to ensure proper operations.
• Utilizes professional judgment to assess the need for improvements or additional clinical/laboratory staff education.
• Provides education as needed.
• Solves technical problems and ensures that remedial actions are taken whenever test systems deviate from the laboratory's established performance specifications.
• Maintains lab competency and lab inspection spreadsheets.
• Affords assistance to the Director of Lab Services with development or revision of laboratory policy and procedures.
• Affords assistance in communicating with reference laboratories, vendors, and departments in Arcare to ensure optimal operations.
• Performs data collection and interpretation to target areas of concern in all steps of the analytical process.
• Performs all duties in an accurate and timely manner and in compliance with Arcare policies.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
