Assistant Director, Faculty Housing
About the role
The Assistant Director of Faculty Housing plays a key leadership role in overseeing the comprehensive management of housing services for postdoctoral researchers, junior faculty, senior faculty, and other affiliated and non-affiliated groups. This position ensures the efficient operation of housing assignments, applications, and transfers, while also developing and enforcing housing policies and processes.
Responsibilities
- Strategic Management: Develop long-term goals and objectives for non-student housing operations in alignment with the University's mission and vision. Oversee the implementation of strategic plans, ensuring efficient management of housing applications, assignments, reassignments, and transfers across all housing categories. Continuously evaluate and adjust strategies to adapt to changing needs and circumstances, ensuring the optimal utilization of housing resources.
- Policy Development and Compliance: Develop, implement, and enforce housing policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with institutional guidelines and standards. Regularly review and update policies to reflect changing regulation and best practices while also monitoring compliance and addressing any issues that arise.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Act as a primary liaison between faculty housing and schools, institutes, and other University departments, facilitating effective communication and collaboration. Proactively engage with stakeholders to understand their housing needs and preferences, ensuring that housing services are tailored to meet their requirements.
- Data Analysis and Reporting: Oversee the collection, analysis, and reporting of housing data to inform decision-making, improve services, and ensure optimal utilization of housing resources. Prepare comprehensive reports and presentations on housing operations and performance metrics for University leadership, stakeholders, and regulatory bodies.
- Process Improvement: Identify and implement process improvements and technological solutions to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of housing operations. Continuously monitor the effectiveness of implemented changes, making adjustments as necessary to ensure sustained improvement over time.
- Team Leadership and Development: Lead and mentor the faculty housing team, fostering a collaborative and high-performing work environment. Ensure that inquiries, issues, and concerns are addressed promptly and effectively, striving to exceed expectations and build positive relationships with residents.
- Project Management: Lead and oversee special projects related to faculty housing operations, technology enhancements, and service improvements. Coordinate project teams, allocate resources, and manage timelines and budgets to ensure successful project delivery.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree
- Minimum of 4 years' related experience
- Master's degree in Business Administration, Real Estate, Public Administration, or related field preferred
- At least 4 years of progressive experience in customer service, housing management, real estate, or a similar role with preference for experience in higher education or a similar complex organization
- Demonstrated leadership and team management skills with the ability to inspire and develop staff
- Strong strategic planning, policy development, and process improvement capabilities
- Excelled communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders
- Advanced analytical and problem-solving abilities with proficiency in data management and reporting tools
- Experience in managing complex projects and implementing technological solutions to enhance service delivery
- Prominent record of commitment to customer service excellence and resolving complex housing issues
Qualifications

Benefits
The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
Pay
The salary range for this position is $105,000 - $115,000.
Schedule
The standard work schedule for this position is 35 hours per week.
