About the role

This position is responsible for the proper maintenance and security of all contracted government-provided facilities and equipment, ensuring compliance with contract requirements. The Assistant Director oversees daily operations, directs staff in developing and implementing departmental policies and programs, maintains the operating budget, and manages expenses. The role focuses on projects and initiatives spanning 1–2 years, emphasizing system creation and strategic implementation.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop departmental talent, including managing structure, staff development, and training.
  • Source and network for team positions.
  • Plan and manage projects and improvement initiatives of moderate to high complexity.
  • Manage change with direct reports and participate in leadership coalitions supporting organizational change.
  • Champion and engage in community relations efforts, linking outcomes to employee engagement.
  • Oversee and manage all facilities-related supply and support.
  • Maintain government-provided facilities and equipment in accordance with contract requirements.
  • Direct cleaning, environmental, and custodial services.
  • Ensure timely action on procurement requests in compliance with contract requirements.
  • Oversee management of government-provided equipment, including scheduled and spot inventories, documentation of new equipment, and disposal of excess, obsolete, or broken equipment.
  • Complete other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience.
  • Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions in English.
  • Ability to think and react calmly and responsibly in emergency situations and recommend solutions for work problems.
  • Basic math calculation skills.
  • Computer knowledge and proficiency in MS Office software.

Pay

Placement within the salary range considers education, experience, internal equity, market demands, and other qualifying criteria. It is not typical for individuals to be hired at or near the top of the range.
