Assistant Director - Employee Experience

About the Role
The Assistant Director- Employee Experience will oversee the development and administration of a comprehensive student employee experience, ensuring inclusivity and accessibility across various programs, services, facilities, and employment opportunities.
Responsibilities
- Manage Handshake postings and internal application processes for student employment.
- Collaborate with SubItUp to maintain accurate student records and certification processes.
- Coordinate student employee recruitment and hiring processes, including marketing, application review, interview scheduling, offers of employment, and onboarding.
- Verify and maintain certifications for student employees, such as CPR, First-Aid, and Lifeguard Training.
- Coordinate new employee orientation and departmental onboarding.
- Evaluate and oversee administrative procedures for student employee accountability and appraisals.
- Maintain student employee Blackboard content and communication channels.
- Coordinate background checks and vehicle clearance for student employees.
- Coordinate and administer student employee exit interviews and offboarding procedures.
- Oversee annual reviews of student employee position descriptions and maintain files.
- Manage procurement, inventory, and distribution of staff uniforms.
- Serve as a liaison to University partners involved in student recruitment, employment, and retention.
- Conduct annual reviews and revisions of the student employee wage scale, handbook, and standard operating procedures.
- Affiliate with the onboarding of departmental full-time employees and graduate assistants.
Employee Development Programming
- Lead the development and implementation of department-wide student development and training programs.
- Create and facilitate in-boarding, mentor programs, annual all-staff trainings, and student leadership trainings.
- Develop partnerships and collaborations within Student Affairs and Academic Departments.
- Promote and support professional development and student employee involvement in on-campus leadership and service opportunities.
- Contribute to the accomplishment of department goals and initiatives.
Assessment/Administrative Related Duties
- Work with the Associate Director - Programs & Assessment on program and operational assessment.
- Provide annual assessment data collection and reports.
- Support the departmental annual report with information.
- Serve as the Chair of Campus Recreation’s Recognizing Employees Committee.
- Supervise campus recreation facilities and staff on designated evenings and weekends.
Fiscal Management
- Provide budgetary oversight for all employee experience operations, including recruitment, hiring, training, recognition, and uniform expenses.
- Update data related to student employee budgets.
- Monitor procurement card purchases for student employee programmatic operations.
- Prepare monthly and/or annual budget reports.
- Adhere to allocated funds for each fiscal year.
Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
- Two years of professional experience (two years of GA experience counts as one year).
- Current CPR/AED certification or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire.
- Experience in managing employee recruitment and hiring.
- Experience training students or professional employees.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and work in a diverse environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree from an accredited college or university.
- Proficiency with presentation software, multimedia training programs, and database management software (e.g., Handshake, Taleo, Blackboard, SubItUp, Innosoft Fusion and Connect 2).
- Experience in student development in higher education.
- Demonstrated supervisory experience of student or part-time employees.
Salary and Benefits
$62,000 annually with full university benefits including 22 days of annual leave, up to 17 holidays, personal and sick days; excellent health, life, and retirement plans; and tuition remission.
