In this role, you will support the Director of Risk Assessment and play a key part in advancing the university’s behavioral threat assessment, case management, and prevention efforts.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct behavioral threat assessments using a structured, evidence-informed approach to evaluate concerning behaviors, risk factors, and potential for harm. Develop and implement individualized management strategies that focus on risk reduction, stabilization, and prevention.
  • Work closely with partners across campus—including General Counsel, Counseling Services, Employee Relations, Student Conduct, and University Police—to ensure responses are thoughtful, legally sound, and focused on safety.
  • Support the development and delivery of training and outreach initiatives that empower the campus community to recognize and report concerning behaviors early.
  • Contribute to prevention, consultation, and training initiatives that promote early identification, reporting, and intervention.
  • Lead and support behavioral threat assessments using structured professional judgment—conducting intake, gathering and analyzing information, assessing risk, and documenting cases.
  • Coordinate case reviews, develop and implement individualized management strategies, and work with stakeholders to monitor and reduce risk.
  • Contribute to shared case formulation and management planning within the Behavioral Assessment Team (BAT).
  • Function effectively within a multidisciplinary team environment, contributing to shared case formulation and management planning.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience conducting suicide risk assessments, violence risk assessments, and/or behavioral threat assessments, and developing individualized management strategies to mitigate risk and prevent escalation.
  • Proven ability to exercise sound professional judgment in complex, ambiguous, or high-risk situations, including the ability to make informed decisions autonomously within established protocols.
  • Experience establishing and maintaining collaborative partnerships with campus stakeholders and external community agencies to support coordinated threat management and intervention efforts.
  • Experience developing and delivering training curricula on topics such as behavioral threat assessment and management, targeted violence prevention, workplace violence prevention, suicide prevention, domestic violence awareness, child protection, classroom behavior management, and managing concerning or disruptive behaviors.
  • Experience developing outreach and prevention materials designed to promote awareness, early identification, and reporting of behaviors of concern.
  • Direct case management experience, including intake, documentation, monitoring, follow-up, and coordination of intervention strategies.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace, and SPSS (or similar data analysis platforms).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to document cases objectively and present risk formulations and recommendations clearly.
  • Demonstrated competence in data tracking, records management, and maintaining accurate, confidential case documentation consistent with legal and ethical standards.
