Job Summary/Basic Function

This position manages day-to-day activities to ensure the department is running efficiently and meets the expectations and needs of customers and staff. Assists with the management/administrative aspects and has operational control of a range of projects.

Level Scope

Entry-level professional with limited or no prior experience to contribute on a project or work team. Incumbent learns to use professional concepts to resolve problems of limited scope and complexity under close supervision while achieving day-to-day objectives. Works on developmental assignments that are initially routine in nature, requiring limited judgment and decision-making. This level is typically focused on self-development. Requires theoretical knowledge through specific education and training.

Essential Functions

  • Participate as a member of the Athletic Personnel Services (APS) Team for the Athletics Department.
  • Support the day-to-day activities of the department through participation in meetings as assigned, providing support for the Sports & Entertainment Group and the Athletics Business Office, and participating in cross-training and professional development.
  • Responsible for various processes and liaison with other units such as Human Resources, financials, data management, and communication.
  • Cook up and facilitate the resolution of employee data discrepancies and respond to employee inquiries.
  • Ensure timely and accurate payroll reporting through utilization of time tracking software, and consistent auditing of timesheets for accuracy and completion.
  • Aid in hiring, recruitment, and onboarding of full-time, temporary, volunteer, and student positions, including, but not limited to, event-specific roles.
  • Aid in coordinating on-campus interviews for approved candidates, including itinerary development, travel coordination, and scheduling.
  • Organize and maintain department-level employee records.
  • Aid in tracking and monitoring the completion of performance evaluations.
  • Keep abreast of current human resources policies, processes, procedures, and compliance.
  • Participate, as necessary, in relevant trainings and focus groups.
  • May perform other duties as needed.

  • Knowledge of human resource administration, regulations and compliance.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • At least 1 year of HR processing or payroll experience.
  • At least 1 year of working in collegiate athletics.
  • At least 1 year of event operations experience.

Physical Demands

  • May involve frequent bending, moving, lifting, and carrying material weighing up to 50 pounds; some positions may involve moving, lifting, and carrying material weighing up to 70 pounds; standing up to eight hours each day; working in all weather conditions; exposure to high noise levels and require wearing hearing protection.

Salary and Benefits

Salary is $50,065.60/yr.
