Assistant Department Manager (Tile)
About the role
This position trains and develops Product Sales Specialists and ensures customers receive exceptional customer service and product information.
Responsibilities
- Act and work in a manner consistent with company’s core values
- Demonstrate safe lifting practices and company philosophy around the basic P’s of retail: People, Position, Product, Presentation, Price, Promotion, Purchasing
- Provide direction to all product sales specialists for high-quality customer service
- Complete product specialist certification courses
- Ensure merchandise and installation knowledge
- Communicate standard operating procedures to all associates
- Complete industrial truck proficiency testing and certification
- Communicate inventory needs to management
- Direct and assist merchandise processing to the showroom floor
- Validate product placement and pricing within the department
- Greet every customer in a helpful and courteous manner
- Assist customers with product questions and selections
- Process customers at checkout using the point of sale (POS) system
- Process customer refunds and exchanges according to established guidelines
- Present 'how-to' classes to customers
- Follow established cash, check, and charge card acceptance procedures
- Stock and tag merchandise displays as required
- Create price tags and merchandise signs
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- One year of customer service/sales experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Excellent communication skills (verbal & written)
- Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment
Qualifications
- Thorough understanding and compliance with company’s safe lifting practices standard operating procedures
- Drive and teach the company philosophy around the basic P’s of retail
Skills
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
- Knowledge of retail operations and customer service principles

- Competitive salary based on experience and qualifications

- Monday - Friday: 7:00 AM - 8:00 PM
- Saturday: 8:00 AM - 7:00 PM
- Sunday: 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM
- Pickup Hours: Monday - Friday: 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM
- Saturday: 8:00 AM - 7:00 PM
- Sunday: 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM
