Assistant Department Manager Key Carrier (Tile)
About the role
This position is responsible for training and developing Product Sales Specialists and ensuring customers have a positive shopping experience through exceptional customer service and product information. This role also supports with opening and closing the store and performs select managerial duties as necessary.
Responsibilities
- Act and work in a manner consistent with company's core values
- Available to open and/or close the store in an effective manner
- Complete managerial responsibilities such as storage buy audits, markdown approval, overrides and cash office functions
- Ensure store presentation standards are achieved and maintained
- Complete the opening safety walk and all lift equipment inspections prior to store opening
- Demonstrate the ability to lead morning huddles, execute Power Hours and function as a CARE Manager
- Guarantee safety and security of customers and employees by following established guidelines and procedures regarding loss prevention and risk management
- Demonstrate the ability to effectively report a Workers Compensation and General Liability claim
- Demonstrate a thorough understanding and compliance with the company’s safe lifting practices standard operating procedures
- Provide direction to all product sales specialists to ensure a highly attentive and accurate level of customer service
- Complete all product specialist certification courses
- Demonstrate a thorough understanding of merchandise and installation
- Communicate standard operating procedure direction and changes to all associates in a timely manner
- Complete the Industrial Truck (forklift) proficiency testing and certification
- Communicate inventory needs to management
- Direct and assist the processing of merchandise to the showroom floor
- Validate all product placement and pricing within the department
- Greet every customer in a helpful and courteous manner
- Aid customers with product questions and selections
- Process customers at check-out using the point of sale (POS) system
- Process customer refunds and exchanges according to established guidelines
- Present 'how-to' classes to customers
- Follow established cash, check and charge card acceptance procedures
- Stock and tag merchandise displays as required
- Create price tags and merchandise signs
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- 1 year of customer service/sales experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the essential functions of the job, as determined by the company
- Excellent communication skills (verbal & written)
- Ability to exercise independent discretion and judgment in managing a fast-paced environment adapting to change with a sense of urgency
Qualifications
- Physical Work – Ability to exert 30 – 60 pounds of force occasionally, and or 20-30 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 20 pounds of force constantly to lift, carry push, pull, or otherwise move objects

Store Hours: Monday - Friday 7:00 AM - 8:00 PM, Saturday 8:00 AM - 7:00 PM, Sunday 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM
Pickup Hours: Monday - Friday 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM, Saturday 8:00 AM - 7:00 PM, Sunday 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM
