Assistant Department Manager Key Carrier (Tile)

About the Role

This position is responsible for training and developing Product Sales Specialists and ensuring customers have a positive shopping experience through exceptional customer service and product information. The role also involves opening and closing the store and performing select managerial duties as necessary.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED
• 1 year of customer service/sales experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the essential functions of the job, as determined by the company
• Excellent communication skills (verbal & written)
• Ability to exercise independent discretion and judgment in managing a fast-paced environment, adapting to change with a sense of urgency

Responsibilities

• Act and work in a manner consistent with company’s core values
• Available to open and/or close the store effectively, including arming and disarming the security alarm and following opening/closing procedures
• Complete managerial responsibilities such as storage buy audits, markdown approval, overrides, and cash office functions
• Ensure store presentation standards are achieved and maintained
• Complete the opening safety walk and all lift equipment inspections prior to store opening
• Lead morning huddles, execute Power Hours, and function as a CARE Manager
• Guarantee safety and security of customers and employees by following loss prevention and risk management guidelines
• Effectively report Workers Compensation and General Liability claims
• Comply with the company’s safe lifting practices and standard operating procedures
• Provide direction to Product Sales Specialists to ensure attentive and accurate customer service
• Complete all product specialist certification courses
• Demonstrate thorough understanding of merchandise and installation
• Ensure merchandising, pricing, and organization of the department
• Communicate standard operating procedure direction and changes to associates in a timely manner
• Complete Industrial Truck (forklift) proficiency testing and certification
• Communicate inventory needs to management
• Direct and assist with processing merchandise to the showroom floor
• Validate product placement and pricing within the department
• Greet customers in a helpful and courte manner
• Assist customers with product questions and selections
• Process customers at check-out using the point of sale (POS) system
• Process customer refunds and exchanges according to established guidelines
• Present ‘how-to’ classes to customers
• Follow established cash, check, and charge card acceptance procedures
• Answer the telephone according to accepted guidelines
• Stock and tag merchandise displays as required
• Create price tags and merchandise signs

Working Conditions

• Frequently exposed to a warehouse environment and moving vehicles
• Noise level in the work environment is typically moderate to noisy

Physical/Sensory Requirements

• Ability to exert 30–60 pounds of force occasionally, 20–30 pounds frequently, and up to 20 pounds constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or move objects
• Frequently required to use hands and fingers to handle or feel
• Frequently required to stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl

Store Hours:
Monday - Friday: 7:00 AM - 8:00 PM
Saturday: 8:00 AM - 7:00 PM
Sunday: 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM

Pickup Hours:
Monday - Friday: 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM
Saturday: 8:00 AM - 7:00 PM
Sunday: 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM
