Assistant County Counsel
About the role
The Assistant County Counsel is a key member of the County's legal leadership team, providing legal counsel and strategic guidance to the Board of Supervisors, County departments, and other political subdivisions within the County. The position supports the administration of the Office, oversees attorneys and professional staff, represents the County in litigation and business matters, and assumes significant responsibility for legal operations and decision-making. The Assistant County Counsel plays an important role in advancing County priorities, managing legal risk, ensuring compliance with applicable laws, and protecting the County's interests and resources.
Responsibilities
- Provides legal counsel and strategic guidance to the Board of Supervisors, County departments, and other political subdivisions within the County.
- Serves as a key member of the County's legal leadership team.
- Supports the administration of the Office, overseeing attorneys and professional staff.
- Represents the County in litigation and business matters.

Requirements
- Minimum of six (6) years of progressively responsible experience as an attorney in civil or governmental law, with at least one (1) year of experience in a supervisory capacity.
- Current active membership in the State Bar of California.
