About the role
This attorney position provides civil legal services, advice, and representation for Douglas County. The attorney responds to legal inquiries, renders legal assistance and opinions to departments within Douglas County government, litigates cases, and initiates and conducts legal proceedings. Duties may also include drafting legal documents and handling appellate work.

Requirements
- Graduation from an ABA accredited law school with a Juris Doctor degree.
- State of Wisconsin Law Licensure required.
- Two years of active legal practice experience as a licensed attorney prior to the date of application preferred.
- Demonstrated knowledge and legal practice experience in family law, administrative, mental health, guardianships, collections, open meetings and public records law, and code enforcement.
- Successful completion of a criminal background check.
- Valid driver’s license or other reliable transportation to perform job duties, with a driving record meeting County standards.
Qualifications
Graduation from an ABA accredited law school, Juris Doctor degree, State of Wisconsin Law Licensure, two years of active legal practice experience as a licensed attorney, demonstrated knowledge and legal practice experience in relevant areas, successful completion of a criminal background check, valid driver’s license or other reliable transportation.
