About the role
Inductotherm Group, LLC, a successful southern New Jersey manufacturing company with global scope, is seeking an Assistant Corporate Counsel - Labor & Employment.
Responsibilities
- Manage and coordinate all legal and compliance matters related to Human Resources affecting the company and its subsidiaries and affiliates.
- Provide legal and strategic advice to the company on a variety of labor and employment matters including leave, employment contracts, employee discipline, investigations, and state and federal regulatory requirements, etc.
- Personalize as much of the company's legal work as possible and closely oversee outside counsel on matters requiring additional expertise.
- Work in conjunction with the rest of the legal team to provide legal counsel and support to senior management and colleagues throughout the company and its affiliates and subsidiaries.
- Report to the Corporate Counsel.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Be readily available to consult with Management/Human Resources of all companies on HR matters, including but not limited to employee discipline; unpaid/paid leave; medical leave; family leave; company employee manuals, etc.
- Represent companies nationwide at depositions, trials, arbitrations, mediations, and hearings dealing with HR claims, litigation, investigations, etc.
- Draft or review legal and other documents including contracts, policies, handbooks, procedures, internal protocols, and litigation-related documents.
- Provide seminars, instructions, presentations to employees of the companies regarding HR law, regulations, "Best Practices," etc.
- Regularly visit companies to provide support, guidance and ensure compliance with policies as well as applicable state and local rules/regulations.
- Serve as liaison to and manage and direct all activities of outside counsel in Labor & Employment area.
- Attend seminars, continuing legal education and other educational events as Corporate Counsel and Management see fit.
- Draft, review, analyze, structure and negotiate a broad range of agreements including those involving customers, vendors, confidentiality, employment and other corporate agreements for domestic operations as needed.
Qualifications
- A Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited law school
- Member in good standing of the Pennsylvania and/or New Jersey bar with an active license
- Minimum of 5+ years of legal experience working as a lawyer in a commercial law firm or in-house, with substantive training in labor and employment matters
- Pragmatic judgment, particularly in determining the significance of legal matters and effectively measuring and balancing legal and business risks
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
- Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced business environment and follow-up on pending issues timely
- Superior oral and written communication and negotiation skills, including comfort and confidence interacting with executives and external stakeholders
- Highly Effective Human Relations Skills are Required
- Ability to prepare and monitor projects and prepare periodic summaries of litigation and litigation reports
- A willingness to learn other general areas of the law to support the Corporate Counsel is encouraged
