About the role
The Assistant Collection Manager, Special Projects will support the museum's efforts in managing and enhancing its special collections through research, cataloging, and outreach initiatives.Responsibilities
- Conduct research on special collections materials to enhance understanding and interpretation.
- Collaborate with curators and other staff to develop and implement strategies for collection management and public engagement.
- Assist in the creation and maintenance of digital and physical catalogues for special collections.
- Develop and execute outreach programs to engage the community with the museum’s special collections.
- Manage inventory and ensure proper storage of special collections materials.
Requirements
- At least 1-2 years of relevant experience in museum curation, archives, or related field.
- Strong knowledge of archival principles and practices.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word and Excel.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Experience with digital asset management systems is a plus.
- Bachelor’s degree in History, Art History, Library Science, or a related field.
- Knowledge of and experience with special collections management.
- Understanding of museum standards and best practices.
- Research and analytical skills.
- Attention to detail and accuracy.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Competitive salary range of $35,000 - $40,000.
