Assistant Coach, Women's Rowing

About the role

This is a fixed-term position based on the Stanford main campus, focused on on-water instructional education and supporting the Stanford Women's Rowing program under the direction of the Head Coach.

Responsibilities

• Exhibit a sincere interest in the emotional, social, and academic development of student-athletes.
• Teach on-water sport-specific skills to develop student-athletes.
• Demonstrate cooperative behavior in pursuing program goals.
• Identify and recruit academically qualified student-athletes while following NCAA guidelines and University standards.
• Assist in planning and transporting student-athletes to competitions and practices.
• Arrange transportation for equipment to competitions and assist with equipment maintenance.
• Display leadership and professional behavior in developing student-athletes.
• Contribute to maintaining a good working relationship with all members of DAPER (Department of Athletics, Physical Education, and Recreation).
• Apply the highest professional standards and ethical behavior, adhering to NCAA, Conference, and University regulations.
• Assist in the management and instruction of summer programming.
• Pass the NCAA recruiting exam annually.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Head Coach or their designee.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of three years of collegiate or professional coaching experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Strong interpersonal skills for working with student-athletes, peers, and the general public.
• Computer literacy with common office applications such as Word, Excel, and G-Suite.
• Ability to navigate and manage Instagram and Twitter accounts.
• Ability to work cooperatively with staff and personnel across the Department of Athletics, the University, and the community.
• Valid California Driver’s License.
