About the role
The Assistant Coach, Baseball position is a full-time, 12-month appointment with two positions available. The effective date is expected to be on or about July 1, 2026, with appointments renewable annually.
Responsibilities
- Assist with the development and supervision of the student-athletes in the Baseball program
- Assist the program in accordance with NCAA Division I, Big West Conference, and University rules, regulations, and policies
- Recruit student-athletes in accordance with NCAA regulations and academic standards, as well as University requirements
- Assist with scheduling nationally competitive teams in conjunction with the Head Coach
- Assist in the planning and coordinating of in-season practices, including team and individual workouts
- Assist in the planning and coordinating of out-of-season practices, including individual skill instruction and team workouts, focusing on the development of athletic skills to compete at the Division I level
- Assist in monitoring the academics of each of the Baseball student-athletes
- Effectively communicate with Athletics Academic Advisor to ensure any academic concerns are being addressed
- Assist with the planning and implementing of game plans, including development of scouting reports of opponents
- Assist with budgetary responsibilities including recruitment, team travel, and equipment
- Cook with the strength and conditioning program with assigned Strength and Conditioning Coach
- Complete all necessary compliance forms as required and/or requested by the Athletics Compliance Office in a timely manner
- Support all marketing activities of the Department of Athletics for the Baseball program
- Participate in fund raising activities for the Baseball program and/or Department of Athletics
- Cultivate and maintain effective relationships with students, parents, faculty, staff, media, and friends of the university
- Perform computer related tasks
- Perform other duties as assigned by Head Coach and Sport Supervisor
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree
- Prior athletic participation in Baseball
- Demonstrated commitment to working successfully with a diverse student population, including Black/African American, Latine/x, Native American/Indigenous, low-income, first-generation, and minoritized students
- Knowledge of and adherence to NCAA rules and regulations (preferred)
- Experience in Baseball as a player or coach at the college level (preferred)
- Demonstrated ability to assist with coaching and recruiting quality student-athletes (preferred)
- Computer experience (preferred)
- Public relations skills (preferred)
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and excellent organizational skills (preferred)

- Finalist will be required to provide official transcript from institution awarding highest degree

Benefits
The Coach (12-Month) classification salary is $93,960 to $153,252 per year (paid as 12 monthly payments). Salary offered is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
