About the role
This role is the link between film, data, and the grass. The Assistant Coach prepares the information that shapes our weekly plan and helps deliver it to players in a way that is simple and actionable.
Responsibilities
- Opposition analysis
- The Assistant Coach builds the scouting report for every opponent. Each report covers:
- Trends in each phase of play
- Trends in chances and goals, both for and against
- Projected lineup and shape
- Clear data trends that support what we see on film
- Set-piece tendencies, attacking and defending
- Tagging FC Tulsa game film
- Cut every FC Tulsa match by phase of play and by individual player
- Organize clips into folders that can be sent directly to players and staff
- Turn film around fast enough that it is ready for our post-game review
- On-field assistance
- Assist the head coach during team training sessions
- Run individual development plan (IDP) sessions when needed
- Run training for players who do not travel with the team
Qualifications
- B license or above
- Experience in a professional or high-level environment
- Comfortable with video and data tools

- Collaborates well with staff and players
- Separates a real trend from a one-off moment, and supports conclusions with film and data
- Understands our game model, or can learn it quickly
- Presents information to players clearly and briefly
- Communicates in a way that is simple and actionable
