About the role

The Assistant City Manager and Human Resources Director oversees the day-to-day operations of the city’s human resources department and provides strategic leadership in support of the city’s mission and vision.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all aspects of the city’s human resources department, including recruitment, training, employee relations, and benefits administration.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures that align with city goals and best practices in human resources management.
  • Manage the city’s workforce planning and succession planning initiatives.
  • Collaborate with other city departments to ensure effective integration of HR functions across the organization.
  • Provide guidance and support to city managers and department heads on HR-related issues.
  • Ensure compliance with state and federal labor laws and regulations.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in human resources management.
  • Experience in managing a team of HR professionals.
  • Knowledge of employment law and labor relations.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Qualifications

  • Proven ability to lead and manage a human resources department.
  • Experience in strategic planning and implementation.
  • Strong understanding of employee benefits and compensation systems.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines.

Skills

  • Strong leadership and management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience with HRIS systems.

Benefits

Comprehensive benefits package including health insurance, retirement plans, paid time off, and professional development opportunities.

Pay

$80,000 - $100,000 annually, commensurate with experience.

Schedule

Full-time position with flexible working hours.
