Assistant City Engineer

About the role

The Assistant City Engineer is a senior level position within the Engineering Department of the City of Watertown. This position reports directly to the City Engineer and oversees the City’s Engineering staff, including design and construction for all City utility infrastructure projects. Supervision is exercised over subordinate engineering department personnel.

Responsibilities

• Oversight of the City’s Engineering staff, including design and construction for all City utility infrastructure projects.
• Supervision of subordinate engineering department personnel.
• Different from Civil Engineer II by virtue of its expanded scope and level of responsibility.

Qualifications

• Graduation from a regionally accredited college or university or one accredited by the NYS Board of Regents to grant degrees with a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or closely related field.
• Minimum of 4 years of engineering experience, with a minimum of 2 years of experience in a supervisory capacity.

Special Necessary Requirements

• Must possess and maintain a valid NYS Driver’s License.
• Must possess or achieve NYS Professional Engineering license within 24 months of employment.
• Must maintain PE license for permanent appointment and continued employment.
