About the role
The Assistant Business Manager is the operational backbone alongside the Business Manager, responsible for keeping the community organized, accurate, and running smoothly day to day.
Responsibilities
- OPERATIONS AND READINESS: Keep the community running day to day. Coordinate unit turns and vacant-unit readiness, white-glove move-in inspections, and timely move-outs. Complete daily community walks for curb appeal and basic safety. Manage keys and fobs. Keep files audit-ready and the office show-ready. Uphold SAIL standards consistently.
- FINANCIAL ACCURACY: Hit occupancy, collections, and delinquency benchmarks. Post rent and fees promptly. Verify and code vendor invoices. Operate within budget. Enter complete, accurate data in Yardi.
- LEASING SUPPORT: Help drive occupancy with fast speed-to-lead, including tours, applications and screening within policy, and consistent follow-up. Support the renewal plan alongside the leasing team.
- RESIDENT SERVICE: Deliver Legendary Service through dependable, professional, and responsive support. Resolve concerns promptly. Respond to online reviews in a brand-aligned way. Help host resident events.
- COMPLIANCE AND FILES: Maintain Fair Housing, ADA, and FCRA compliance. Keep required postings, licenses, and reports current and on time. Protect file integrity and support audits.
- TEAM SUPPORT: Be the Business Manager's reliable right hand. Anticipate needs, follow through, and keep the operation tight.
Qualifications
- One or more years in property management, leasing, or another detail-heavy administrative or customer service role.
- Comfort with recurring, deadline-driven work and a full task load.
- Strong written and verbal communication, with a warm and professional approach to residents and prospects.
- Computer proficiency and comfort learning a property management system. Yardi experience is a plus.
- Working understanding of Fair Housing, or willingness to complete training and apply standards consistently.
- PREFERRED: Yardi experience, including CRM; Prior assistant manager or leasing experience in market-rate multifamily; CAM, ARM, or similar certification, or the willingness to earn one with SAIL's support.
Requirements
- If you have the accuracy and the temperament but not the multifamily background, apply anyway. Systems are teachable. Precision and follow-through are harder to find.

Schedule and Working Conditions
- Full-time, typically Monday through Friday, on-site.
