About the Role

By emphasizing ONE Park, ONE Mission, One Team, the Assistant Branch Manager supports and leads branch staff in fostering a member-centric culture focused on delivering an exceptional experience for both employees and members. This role involves directing, developing, motivating, and coaching staff to build strong member relationships, monitoring branch production, and addressing any issues that arise. The Assistant Branch Manager also assists in hiring, training, and evaluating employees, representing the branch in the community, maintaining communications with Retail Operations, and ensuring branch activities comply with credit union policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in directing, developing, motivating, and coaching branch staff while meeting the service standards for the credit union.
  • Monitor branch production results relative to established objectives and ensure corrective steps are taken for unsatisfactory conditions.
  • Actively cross-sell credit union services to members and coach staff to do the same.
  • Service members, open new accounts, and conduct loan closings when necessary.
  • Provide support to staff serving members and resolve problems as needed.
  • Assist in hiring, training, directing, and evaluating employee performance within the branch; ensure the manager is aware of performance problems and take appropriate disciplinary action as instructed.
  • Represent the branch in relationships with coworkers, members, sponsor organizations, suppliers, other financial institutions, and community groups to enhance the credit union’s image and visibility.
  • Participate in and attend community, chamber, and charitable organization meetings.
  • Maintain communications with Retail Operations and other credit union departments; assist in preparing and submitting standard reports; attend scheduled management meetings when necessary.
  • Monitor all branch activities to ensure compliance with established credit union policies, procedures, and security standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Provide friendly, professional, and accurate service and support to all members and coworkers, achieving average scores of 6 and above on Quality Standard Surveys.
  • Maintain and develop a qualified staff sufficient to meet the needs of members.
  • Ensure staff work with a minimum number of documentation/transaction errors and that tellers function within the pre-set balancing standard policy.
  • Achieve branch goals as determined by the Management Team.
  • Complete performance reviews within the prescribed time frame.
  • Develop and maintain business partner relationships within the community.
  • Follow all security policies and procedures; report discrepancies or suspicious activity to the manager immediately.
  • Maintain a professional work environment, promote teamwork, build respect among coworkers, and present a businesslike appearance.
  • Follow the credit union’s Bank Secrecy Act and anti-money laundering policies and procedures, including running OFAC searches, completing investigative reports of suspicious activity, and filing currency transaction reports timely and without error.

Requirements

  • Three to five years of similar or related experience.
  • Education: A two-year college degree, or completion of a specialized certification or licensing, or completion of specialized training courses conducted by vendors, or job-specific skills acquired through an apprenticeship program.

  • Interpersonal Skills: Work involves frequent personal contact with others inside and/or outside the organization for first-level conflict resolution, building relationships, and soliciting cooperation. Discussions require a higher degree of confidentiality and discretion, demanding diplomacy and tact in communication.
  • Other Skills: Strong communication skills.

  • Frequently sit, stand, and walk short distances.
  • Frequently use hands and fingers to count currency and handle, manipulate, and feel objects, documents, and office tools and equipment.

  • Occasionally stoop, bend, squat, and reach overhead with hands and arms.
  • Occasionally push and pull office furniture and other objects.
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds; on occasion, lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
