About the Role

The Assistant Branch Manager provides managerial and administrative support to a full-service branch office of the Credit Union, ensuring quality service standards are maintained.

Responsibilities

  • Act as next in charge in the Vice President, Branch Manager's absence.
  • Participate in hiring, training, coaching, supervision, and performance evaluations of branch personnel, including counseling, documentation, and dismissal.
  • Ensure staff is updated on policy and procedure changes and trained in all Credit Union products and services.
  • Coordinate cross-training of branch personnel and provide guidance to improve performance.
  • Promote high morale, teamwork, and member relations; resolve complaints quickly and authorize exceptions to procedures when justified.
  • Serve members as needed, maintaining quality service standards.
  • Act as a loan officer, making timely loan decisions based on credit scoring guidelines and interfacing with members on complex loan files.
  • Assist in loan audits and review loan reports; maintain awareness of competitors' loan and deposit products.
  • Support branch performance, service, and production strategies, including business development activities.
  • Maintain proper control of negotiable items to safeguard Credit Union assets.
  • Supervise workflow, coordinate scheduling, and monitor daily branch balancing and general ledger accounts for accuracy.
  • Ensure compliance with operational policies and procedures.
  • Know and follow security and emergency procedures.
  • Recommend improvements for branch appearance and functions.
  • Promote cooperation and teamwork with other branches and departments.
  • Participate in AML/BSA compliance training and adhere to related policies, including CTR rules, suspicious activity reporting, OFAC comparisons, and member identification.
  • Provide managerial oversight of team activities and act as a role model for success and engagement.
  • Manage staff performance through feedback, coaching, mentoring, and timely appraisals.
  • Consult with HR on performance or behavioral issues and report safety or legal concerns.
  • Monitor schedules, approve timesheets, and ensure compliance with meal/rest break policies.
  • Serve on ad hoc committees, coordinate community room activities, and perform other assigned duties.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or one additional year of relevant work experience.
  • Minimum three years of professional experience in financial industry operations with increasing responsibility and proven supervisory abilities.
  • Demonstrated success in planning, organizing, leading, and oversight of people and activities.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, establish priorities, and meet deadlines.
  • Track record of applying critical thinking and emotional intelligence in various situations.

Schedule

  • Monday–Friday: 8:00 AM–6:00 PM
  • Saturday: 8:00 AM–3:00 PM
  • Sunday: Off
  • Full-time: 40 hours/week

Physical Demands and Work Environment

The role requires regular use of hands, frequent standing, reaching, and occasional walking, sitting, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, or crawling. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities include close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The work environment is usually moderate in noise level.
