About the role

The Assistant Branch Manager (ABM) plays a crucial role in supporting the direction and administration of Branch operations. This position embodies the values of "servant leadership" and focuses on enhancing member service and expanding the credit union's member base.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates "member obsession" in all encounters, whether with CU members or team members.
  • Ensures operations comply with Credit Union policies, legal, and regulatory requirements, and audit standards.
  • Provides suggestions to improve processes that enhance member service.
  • Assists with opening and closing the building, testing security equipment, and reporting any security issues.
  • Monitors teller activities, runs reports, and balances vaults at the end of each day.
  • Supports tellers and assists with various loan and deposit functions.
  • Promotes branch business development and strengthens member relationships.
  • Completes required reports and ensures proper documentation of Branch functions.
  • Implements changes to established policies and procedures within the Branch.
  • Ensures compliance with Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) rules and regulations, including CTR processing and SAR reporting.
  • Supervises and coaches the team, ensuring they have the necessary tools for exceptional member service.
  • Determines appropriate staffing levels and schedules employees as needed.
  • Acts as an advocate for the community by participating in local events and fostering relationships.
  • Participates in SUN’s strength-based management tools to enhance employee engagement and career growth.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent required, with a college degree preferred.
  • Thorough knowledge of Credit Union products, services, and policies.
  • Understanding of Teller/Member Service Representative functions.
  • Knowledge of Loan Officer processes and responsibilities.
  • Minimum of three years of progressively responsible credit union or financial industry experience in operations, preferably in a supervisory role.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, active listening, collaborative mindset, strategic thinking, problem-solving abilities, self-motivation, continuous learning, organizational skills, proficiency with standard computer applications and office equipment, servant leadership, ability to motivate, coach, and support team members.
