About the Role
The Assistant Branch Manager supports the mission and strategy of the branch, overseeing daily operations and acting as manager in the branch manager's absence. Responsibilities include safety, compliance, personnel, facility, inventory, equipment, and overall business results.
Responsibilities
- Work with the Branch Manager and branch personnel to drive profitability using company digital tools to maximize branch performance.
- Develop, train, and supervise associates; address personnel issues with corrective actions.
- Handle daily customer service issues and maintain relationships with key customers.
- Greet and assist call-in and walk-in customers with product selection and delivery.
- Oversee inventory control procedures, warehouse housekeeping, and security/safety standards.
- Participate in inventory management to meet customer demand.
- Maintain branch facility, warehouse, and office equipment.
- Schedule branch staff to ensure daily coverage.
- Monitor branch operating expenses and implement corrective actions.
- Make deliveries to branches/customers as required.
- Perform other branch duties, including counter sales, order preparation, material handling, and equipment maintenance.
Requirements
- 2+ years of related experience.
- Previous sales, operations, electrical distribution, or similar B2B industry experience preferred.
- Leadership experience preferred.
- Certification to operate forklift, hand truck, pallet jack, and other warehouse equipment preferred.
- If required to make deliveries:
- Valid driver’s license.
- At least 21 years of age.
- Pass pre-employment and annual Motor Vehicle Record review.
- Obtain verification of non-expired medical certificate as required by law within 60 days of hire.
- No suspended driver’s license for traffic accidents/violations within the past 3 years.
- High School diploma or GED required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Skills
- Knowledge of inventory control and warehouse operations.
- Ability to manage P&Ls preferred.
- Sales and service-oriented, self-motivated, dependable, with strong leadership and customer service skills.
- Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
- Strong negotiation and team development skills.
- Experience with Microsoft Office and ERP systems such as Solar Eclipse.
