Overview

The Assistant Branch Manager (ABM) is responsible for managing the facilitation of member service transactions and support services to positively impact member experience, sales and service expectations. This role provides direction and leadership by supervising, training, and assuring quality control over all activities of the Member Service Representatives. The ABM also oversees daily branch operations and is accountable for profitability, internal controls, and work processed, and manages the branch in the absence of the Branch Manager.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise the entire branch when the Branch Manager is absent.
  • Maintain supervision and leadership of branch personnel, demonstrating strong personal effectiveness.
  • Oversee branch staff and assist with training employees; plan, assign, and direct work; appraise performance; reward and discipline employees; address complaints and resolve problems.
  • Participate in the selection/hiring process with the Branch Manager; professionally onboard, develop, coach, and evaluate assigned staff.
  • Provide operations oversight, including approving transactions, cash control, branch security, audits, internal controls, and ensuring compliance with policies and procedures.
  • Maintain updated industry knowledge and proactively identify industry trends to ensure business expertise and member focus.
  • Act as a change agent by suggesting process improvements and coaching others through change.
  • Apply knowledge of policies and procedures for all products and services offered by the Credit Union, NWCM, and other business partners/vendors.
  • Identify opportunities using the “The Member Advantage” program and a needs‑based approach to sell financial solutions, achieving assigned sales goals.
  • Proactively identify opportunities to provide product and service solutions to members.
  • Provide exceptional member experiences.
  • Lead staff meetings and contribute during sales calls.
  • Monitor branch cash in coordination with the Branch Manager.
  • Track and monitor teller, vault, and TCR/TCD differences and report concerns to the Manager.
  • Understand and share the branch scorecard with the team; assist the Branch Manager in developing plans to address improvement areas.
  • Complete the monthly branch review packet.
  • Attend and participate in networking, community, and SEG events/activities as directed by the Branch Manager.
  • Perform Notary and Signature Guarantee duties.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Remain cognizant of and adhere to NWFCU policies and procedures as well as regulations pertaining to the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA).

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience; a bachelor’s degree is preferred.
  • Minimum of two years’ experience in a comparable financial institution or more than three years of retail service and sales experience.
  • Minimum of one year previous experience in a leadership/coaching role.
  • Experience with client service and relationship‑skill building; proactive sales skills and the ability to meet service and sales goals.
  • Ability to use sound judgment, logic, and initiative while maintaining member confidentiality and demonstrating integrity.
  • Accuracy and detail orientation.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of NWFCU, federal, and state regulations required by the National Credit Union Association.
  • Ability to communicate with tact and diplomacy, exercising sound judgment while maintaining member confidentiality.
  • Effective problem‑solving skills.
  • Effective sales techniques.

Schedule

Monday‑Thursday 9 AM – 5 PM, Friday 9 AM – 6 PM, and Saturday 9 AM – 1 PM.
