About the Role

The Assistant Branch Manager plays a lead role in achieving sales goals and delivering exceptional client experiences. This position is responsible for identifying prospects, deepening client relationships, and recommending value-added bank products and services. The Assistant Branch Manager oversees the entire client experience, handles service needs, opens new accounts, and makes referrals to other lines of business. They ensure operational soundness through adherence to policies and procedures, support the Branch Manager in coaching and developing associates, and drive sales performance.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and motivate the branch team based on Centier’s Mission, Essentials of Excellence, and Values.
  • Use independent judgment and sound decision-making to limit risk to clients and the bank.
  • Cultivate strong relationships with clients, associates, branches, departments, and external organizations.
  • Support the training and career development of all branch associates.
  • Assist in developing and implementing strategies to meet or exceed branch goals and increase market share.
  • Participate in and oversee the Servant Sales process per established guidelines.
  • Counsel clients on financial needs, complete account openings, and originate/close loans.
  • Maintain and expand existing customer and business banking relationships.
  • Ensure consistent application of Bank policies and operational procedures throughout the branch.
  • Work with Retail Operations to address branch questions, concerns, and issues.
  • Lead operational duties such as opening/closing the branch, verifying currency shipments, maintaining branch appearance, assisting with drawer balancing, preparing reports, and balancing the ATM and vault.
  • Coach and mentor associates to improve results.
  • Create schedules based on expected branch traffic and volume.
  • Oversee branch operations in the absence of the Branch Manager.
  • Resolve client concerns efficiently, with management assistance if needed.
  • Represent Centier professionally through community involvement, external initiatives, and volunteerism.
  • Assist the Branch Manager with performance management, including reviews, salary recommendations, coaching, action plans, scheduling, hiring, discipline, and termination.
  • Foster professional expertise through online courses and internal seminars.
  • Follow the Essentials of Excellence and exhibit Corporate Values in all interactions.
  • Supervise a branch with multiple lines of business and collaborate to meet all aspects of client needs.
  • Mentor associates on various tasks and assignments.
  • Available to work evenings, some weekends, and at other branches as needed.

Requirements

  • Working knowledge of PC software including MS Windows, Office, Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Bookings, SharePoint, social media platforms, and bank-approved systems (CSI NuPoint, IMM, Covalent, Power BI, Smartsheet).
  • Ability to listen, understand client problems, and recommend solutions.
  • High attention to detail for accuracy.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead within a team environment.
  • Ability to manage multiple initiatives and client/team needs simultaneously.
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Consultative skills to identify financial needs and recommend solutions.
  • Understanding of consumer credit, including loan-to-value, debt-to-income, and credit reports.
  • Ability to adopt and implement new technology and system conversions.
  • Ability to interact with business partners such as Investment Services, Mortgage, and Business Banking professionals.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a business-related field preferred.
  • 2+ years of management experience, preferably in banking, financial services, or goal-driven retail sales with an emphasis on consumer and business development.
  • Client service experience.
