Schedule
Branch hours: Monday–Friday (9:00 AM–5:00 PM), Saturday (9:00 AM–12:00 PM). Availability to work evenings, some weekends, and at other branches as needed.
About the Role
The Assistant Branch Manager plays a lead role in achieving sales goals and delivering exceptional client experiences at our South Bend West location. This position supports the Branch Manager in coaching, training, and developing branch associates while ensuring operational soundness and adherence to policies.
Supervisory Duties
- Assist in supervising the branch team.
- Support performance management, including reviews, coaching, hiring, discipline, and termination.
- Create schedules based on branch traffic and volume.
- Oversee branch operations in the absence of the Branch Manager.
Responsibilities
- Lead and motivate the team based on Centier’s Mission, Essentials of Excellence, and Values.
- Use independent judgment to limit risk to clients and the bank.
- Cultivate strong relationships with clients, associates, branches, departments, and external partners.
- Support training and career development of branch associates.
- Assist in developing and implementing strategies to meet or exceed branch goals and increase market share.
- Participate in and oversee the Servant Sales process per established guidelines.
- Counsel clients on financial needs, open accounts, and originate/close loans.
- Maintain and expand existing customer and business banking relationships.
- Ensure consistent application of Bank policies and operational procedures.
- Work with Retail Operations to address branch questions, concerns, and issues.
- Handle operational duties such as opening/closing the branch, verifying currency shipments, maintaining branch appearance, balancing drawers/ATM/vault, and preparing reports.
- Coach and mentor associates to improve performance.
- Resolve client concerns efficiently, escalating to management if needed.
- Represent Centier professionally through community involvement, external initiatives, and volunteerism.
- Foster professional expertise through online courses and internal seminars.
- Collaborate with multiple lines of business (e.g., Investment Services, Mortgage, Business Banking) to meet client needs.
- Mentor associates on various tasks and assignments.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a business-related field preferred.
- 2+ years of management experience, preferably in banking, financial services, or goal-driven retail sales with an emphasis on consumer and business development.
- Client service experience.
Skills
- Working knowledge of PC software, including MS Windows, Office, Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Bookings, SharePoint, social media platforms, and bank-approved systems (CSI NuPoint, IMM, Covalent, Power BI, Smartsheet).
- Ability to listen, analyze client problems, and recommend solutions.
- High attention to detail for accuracy.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and work within a team environment.
- Ability to manage multiple initiatives and client/team needs simultaneously.
- Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Consultative skills to identify financial needs and recommend solutions.
- Understanding of consumer credit, including loan-to-value, debt-to-income, and credit reports.
- Ability to adopt and implement new technology and software rollouts.
- Ability to interact with business partners (e.g., Investment Services, Mortgage, Business Banking).
