Part-time, non-exempt position with a salary of $13,000 per season.

About the Role

Will serve as Assistant Basketball Coach, reporting to the Head Men's Basketball Coach and supervising Basketball Program student athletes.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in supporting the academic initiatives and philosophies of RVC and the athletic department, including:
    • Mandatory Study Hall Hours
    • Academic Progress Reports
    • Mandatory Advising
    • Student-athlete Academic Credit Requirements
  • Coordinate struggling student-athletes with tutors, writing center, and other campus resources for assistance.
  • Assist in coordination of all camps, clinics, and basketball events on an annual basis.
  • Assist in coordination of all transfer activities of basketball student athletes.
  • Assist in coordination of purchasing, maintenance, and inventory of athletic equipment for the Basketball Program.
  • Assist in coordination of scheduling and management of team contests, official practices, travel arrangements, and facilities utilization for the Basketball program.
  • Assist in coordinating, tracking, and implementing a recruitment plan to meet the initiatives of the RVC Athletic Department.
  • Assist in organizing and running practice sessions and coach games and contests.
  • Assist in supervision of student-athletes during practice, contests, and travel.
  • Assist in enforcing adherence to the RVC and NJCAA Student Athlete Code of Conduct.
  • Comply with all NJCAA rules.
  • Assist in reporting all results on the RVC Athletics website and social media.
  • Maintain social media platforms according to all institutional and department guidelines.
  • Integrate, evaluate, and actively recruit within and outside of the greater-Rockford community.
  • Design and execute practices for player and team development using knowledge of basketball.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree required.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Supportive of the initiation and ongoing development of the College's Athletic Strategic Plan.
  • Strong interpersonal and human relations skills.
  • Ability to keep information confidential.
  • Effective communication skills with players, support staff, and supervisors.
  • Proficiency in navigating Microsoft platforms for analytical data pertinent to department and sport requirements.
  • Capable of using independent judgment to solve problems and complex situations.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work with a diverse population.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works both in and out of an office setting.

Physical Demands

Physical demands include:

  • Regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle, feel, or operate objects, tools, or controls, and reach with hands and arms.
  • Frequently required to stand, talk, and hear.
