About the Role

The Assistant Banking Center Manager (ABCM) supervises the staff at a Cape Cod 5 Banking Center, ensuring the highest level of customer care. As a trusted financial advisor, the ABCM delivers a full range of financial services to help customers meet their financial goals and supports staff in achieving their professional goals as part of the retail management team.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees, supervises, and mentors Banking Center staff, including scheduling, communicating goals, and coaching on principles and values.
  • Monitors and reviews management reports.
  • Develops rapport with customers, greeting them by name, understanding account ownership types, and ensuring responsive and timely problem resolution with a caring attitude (GUEST philosophy).
  • Provides backup support to the Banking Center Manager.
  • Delivers excellent customer care for daily transactions, inquiries, and problem resolution in accordance with Bank policies.
  • Performs banking transactions such as processing deposits, loan payments, verifying cash, check cashing, issuing money orders and treasurer’s checks, and redeeming savings bonds.
  • Handles Banking Center opening and closing activities.
  • Advises customers on the Bank’s deposit and consumer loan products to proactively meet their needs.
  • Identifies customers’ financial needs and makes referrals to other business lines (e.g., Investment Services, Commercial Lending, Treasury Management).
  • Maintains working knowledge of product offerings, including consumer, business, deposit, lending, non-profit, retirement, digital banking, and debit cards.
  • Discusses lending opportunities and assists customers in preparing loan applications for home equity and other consumer loans.
  • Upholds customer confidentiality and complies with all laws, regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Completes assigned learning activities in a timely manner and fulfills vault custodian duties.
  • Actively participates in Banking Center meetings and one-on-one coaching sessions.
  • Engages in community groups and events.
  • Completes specialized training courses and certification programs as assigned.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred, or a combination of secondary education and four years of progressive retail banking experience.
  • Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System (NMLS) registration.
  • Notary Public commission.
  • Completion of Medallion signature guarantee training.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Three or more years of supervisory experience with proven leadership capabilities, including at least one year of retail banking supervisory experience (e.g., Relationship Banker III or above).
  • Conversant in all Bank business lines.
  • Ability to independently complete and mentor others in transactions, platform services, account openings, consumer loan products, IRAs, and trust accounts.
  • Ability to execute complex account openings and transactions independently.
  • Experience supervising staff at the RBI-IV levels.
  • Strong critical thinking, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
  • High level of judgment and decision-making ability.
  • Experience with Banking Center opening/closing activities.
  • Prior customer relationship-building experience.
  • Supervisory aptitude and demonstrated management/leadership skills.
  • Cybersecurity awareness to protect the digital environment, the Bank, and customers.
