Assistant Attorney General (Attorney III), Internet Crimes Against Children

Job Responsibilities

  • Performs all legal work relating to Internet crimes against children under limited supervision.
  • Advise and assist law enforcement on Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) investigations.
  • Prepare cases for county grand jury consideration and final disposition.
  • Seek appropriate resolution of all cases in a timely manner.
  • Make court appearances and trial presentations on behalf of the State of South Carolina and the SC Attorney General’s Office.
  • Prepare orders and any other necessary documentation to obtain subscriber information from the internet and electronic service providers.
  • Afford assistance in training and making presentations to law enforcement agencies, local community groups, schools, or related interest groups on ICAC issues.
  • Respond to citizen inquiries.

Requirements

  • A juris doctor degree or its equivalent from an accredited law school.
  • Five years of experience as a practicing attorney.
  • Must be a member and in good standing with the South Carolina Bar.
  • Must satisfy Rule 403 requirements.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of the laws of South Carolina.
  • Knowledge of general case, statutory, and common law.
  • Knowledge of judicial and quasi-judicial procedures and rules of guidance.
  • Ability to interpret and apply laws in court decisions.
  • Ability to analyze facts, evidence, and legal instruments.
  • Ability to express conclusions and arguments clearly and logically.
  • Ability to plan and direct the activities of a legal staff.
