Assistant Athletics Director for Marketing

About the Role
The Assistant Athletics Director for Marketing at The University of Akron manages athletics marketing and promotions with a focus on ticket sales by creating and executing strategic marketing plans. This role reports directly to the Associate Athletics Director for Marketing.
Responsibilities
- Manage the creation and execution of strategic marketing plans, ticketing collateral, and communication (75%).
- Develop advanced promotions schedules, community outreach, and appearances.
- Oversee game-day scripts and timelines for the 18-sport Division 1 FBS intercollegiate athletics department, with a primary focus on football, basketball, and soccer.
- Serve as liaison with the department’s advertising agency, media buyer, university marketing, the student fan organization, and the band (15%).
- Work closely with outsourced staff to fulfill sponsorship inventory for Peak Sports (10%).
- Utilize Microsoft Office, InDesign, Photoshop, and/or other related software.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in managing sports marketing and promotions, preferably in college athletics or minor league sports.
- Strong organizational, communication, strategic-planning, creative, and customer relations skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Demonstrated ability in sales, marketing, customer service, and/or related fields.
