About the role

Tarleton State University, a distinguished Doctoral National Comprehensive University, invites applications for the position of Assistant/Associate Professor and Coordinator, Allied Health Concentration within the BS Exercise Sport Physiology in the Department of Health and Human Physiology.

Responsibilities

  • Teach and deliver lectures, seminars, and/or laboratory offerings to undergraduate students, which may include the general education core curriculum.

  • Select instructional materials, design assessments, and provide academic support and guidance to students through office hours, assignment feedback, and mentoring.

  • Engage students in active learning, foster critical thinking skills, and provide opportunities for discussion, collaboration, and hands-on learning.

  • Maintain an active agenda for research, scholarship, or creative activity appropriate to the applicant’s academic discipline.

  • Collaborate with colleagues, departmental faculty, and university staff to coordinate course offerings, share resources, and contribute to program development and improvement.

  • Participate in institutional service roles, including but not limited to college committees, advisory committees, student/faculty recruitment, and mentoring of new and part-time faculty.

Requirements

  • Earned doctorate/terminal degree in the teaching discipline from an accredited university.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English.

  • Knowledge and understanding of undergraduate education.

  • Ability to interact with students, staff, and faculty professionally, collegially, and collaboratively.

  • Experience with CASCE Accreditation.

Qualifications

  • Preferred Requirements:

    • Administrative and leadership experience.

    • Previous experience in oversight of academic programs.

    • Previous experience as a faculty member and experience in supervisory and/or management position(s) in the academy.

Skills

  • Written and oral communication skills sufficient to manage databases, present to small and large groups.

Schedule

10.5-month tenure-track position; summer appointments dependent upon need and funding availability; work hours: Mon-Fri; 8 AM-5 PM or as work and teaching requirements indicate.
