About the role
The Kirk Kerkorian School of Medicine at UNLV Department of Surgery is recruiting for an Acute Care, Trauma Surgeon, at the Assistant or Associate Professor level.
Responsibilities
- Active clinical participation on the surgical University Medical Center (UMC) team and call schedule
- Student and resident teaching
- Pursuit of scholarly activities
- Teaching and research opportunities in surgical simulation and skills training in the 33,000 sq. ft. Clinical Simulation Center of Las Vegas
- Participation in national meetings related to trauma Surgery
Requirements
- MD or DO from an accredited college or university as recognized by the United States Department of Education and/or the Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA)
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in Surgery
- Eligible for an unrestricted Nevada medical license
- Malpractice insurance
- Successfully credentialed by affiliated teaching hospitals
Qualifications
- Educational credentials, terminal degree, experience in an academic medical institution or equivalency
- Practical interpersonal and communication skills
- Commitment to ongoing performance improvement
- Dedication to enhancing a diverse workforce and academic environment
- Collaborative skills with other clinicians
- Evidence of clinical competence and competence in clinical and didactic teaching and research
Skills
- Ability to teach and mentor medical students, surgical residents and fellows
- Experience in surgical simulation and skills training
- Knowledge of national meetings related to trauma Surgery
