Baylor College of Medicine’s Michael E. DeBakey Department of Surgery invites applications for a full-time faculty surgeon in the Division of Trauma and Acute Care Surgery at the Assistant or Associate Professor level.

About the role

The selected candidate will join a busy team of Acute Care Surgeons who provide service at our affiliate hospitals. Faculty are committed to excellence in surgical care, education, and research within the Texas Medical Center at institutions including Baylor St. Luke’s Medical Center, Texas Children’s Hospital, Ben Taub General Hospital, and the Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality clinical care in trauma and acute care surgery
  • Pursue innovative treatment of complex hernia and abdominal-wall repair
  • Teach general surgery residents and surgical critical-care fellows
  • Engage in collaborative clinical, educational, and research initiatives

Requirements

  • Completion of a Surgical Critical Care fellowship
  • Board-certified or board-eligible in Surgery
  • Eligible for medical licensure in Texas
  • Demonstrated record of clinical excellence and outcomes in general surgery and surgical critical care

Qualifications

A strong interest in complex hernia and abdominal-wall repair is preferred.
