About the role
The Department of Mathematical Sciences at The University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) seeks a mathematical scientist with expertise and experience in image analysis for a tenure‑track assistant/associate professor position. The department comprises 28 tenured and tenure‑track faculty with strengths in algebra, combinatorics, fixed point theory, statistics, bioinformatics, computational science, topology, data science, applied mathematics, and mathematics/statistics education. Notable accomplishments include high‑impact publications and annual research expenditures of $1.2 M. The Data Science PhD program launched in 2021 has already produced graduates, and the department contributes to interdisciplinary Bioinformatics and Computational Science graduate programs. Anticipated start date is fall 2027.
Responsibilities
- Develop productive research programs.
- Mentor and teach undergraduate and graduate students.
- Direct M.S. theses and Ph.D. dissertations.
- Engage in industry and/or applied interdisciplinary research projects (encouraged).
Requirements
- Ph.D. in a mathematical, computational, or data‑science related field.
- Postdoctoral experience.
