Assistant Professor of Mathematics

About the Role

The Department of Mathematics at the University of Missouri, Columbia, invites applications for two tenure-track assistant professor positions, to begin in Fall 2027:

• One in Analysis/Partial Differential Equations (broad range of applicants working in analysis and its subfields encouraged)
• One in Applied/Computational Mathematics (applicants working in artificial intelligence, data science, or scientific computing welcomed)

For both positions, research excellence is prioritized. A willingness to collaborate with department members or engage in interdisciplinary work is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a vigorous research program
• Pursue external funding
• Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in mathematics
• Supervise master's and doctoral students

Requirements

• Ph.D. in Mathematics or a related field by August 15, 2027

Qualifications

Candidates will be evaluated on:

• Demonstrated excellence and promise in mathematical research in the advertised areas
• Evidence of teaching effectiveness
• Potential to obtain external research funding
• Interest in interdisciplinary collaboration
