About the role

The Division of Community Oral Health at the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine invites applications for a full-time, 12-month faculty position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor in the Clinician Educator track.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Deliver didactic and seminar-based instruction to predoctoral and graduate dental students in topics related to community oral health, public health dentistry, health promotion, prevention, and other areas.
  • Provide clinical care to patients at community sites managed by the division and at Penn Dental Medicine.
  • Contribute to curriculum development within the Division of Community Oral Health.
  • Mentor students and trainees in scholarly projects and community-based initiatives.
  • Develop and maintain a program of scholarship, including peer-reviewed publications.
  • Collaborate with faculty across the School of Dental Medicine and the University of Pennsylvania on interdisciplinary research and educational initiatives.
  • Participate in academic service activities within the Division, School, and University.

Qualifications

  • PhD/DrPH/ScD in dental public health, health services research, epidemiology, or similar field and clinical training such as RDH, DMD, DDS, etc. or DMD/DDS or equivalent dental degree with demonstrated research training or experience (e.g., MPH or equivalent research-focused experience).
  • Individuals holding a doctoral degree and PHDHP credential are especially encouraged to apply.
  • Candidates should demonstrate commitment to teaching and educational improvement.
  • History of excellence in clinical care.
  • Potential for independent research and extramural funding.
  • Interest in community-engaged scholarship and population oral health.
